1 Organizations in the music industry
By: Kadar Afflick

2 What Is A Recording Company?
A record label is the company that manages brands and trademarks, which are distinctive signs such as warner brothers has a big WB as their trademark, only that company uses such as coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing and promotion, and enforcement of copyright protection of sound recordings and music videos Also they conduct talent scouting and development of new artists and maintains contracts with recording artists and their managers.

3 Why are record company needed?
Some people are fortunate enough to have money to make a studio in their house or rent one and record themselves. But….Not only does a Record company pays all the expenses to record a song/s . They also support and finance, reaching to more people, so you will get noticed and being able to pull the strings when needed to get us on a TV show – those moves are harder to do when you're more independent.

4 What is an Artist’s Representative? (Agent)
An Artist’s Representative or Agent represents one or multiple musical acts by supervising every single aspect of an act's career. Any and all business decisions are advised on by the Artist’s Agent along with many of the acts' creative decisions as well. With such advice, the Artist’s Agent is trying to lead the act to the “tippy top," and must know how to direct a musical career if they wish to mange successfully. This is potentially one of the most exciting and fun careers in the music business. Nelson Demille is one of those agent. Nelson Richard DeMille is an American author of thriller novels. His works include Word of Honor, The Charm School, The Gold Coast, Plum Island, and The General's Daughter.

5 What is a music professional organization? (Union)
A Music Union (MU) is an organization which represents over a large amount of musicians working in all sectors of the music business. A Music Union does a lot of dealing on behalf of musicians with all the major employers in the industry. The Music Union offers a range of services customized for the self-employed by providing assistance for professional and student musicians of all ages. Specialists that work full-time should always be available to take on the issues raised by musicians working in the live sector, the recording studio, or when writing and creating. These issues can range from copyright protection to valuable contractual advice or from the recovery of unpaid fees to crucial work in health and safety. An example of a music union is Equity. Equity is the UK trade union for professional performers and creative practitioners. As a leading industry organization, Equity is known and respected nationally and internationally for the work we do with, and on behalf of, our members working across all areas of the entertainment industry.

6 Do record labels, agents, unions need to work together?
Artists need a record label to record their songs, agents need an artist to promote and the union supports the agent and the record label. It seems like one big business. First, it starts with an artist who then gets chosen by an agent(the chosen one) who gets the artist a contract deal with a record label company. An agent then consults the union for further instructions.

7 This is now the end of my portfolio for section one!!!!!!!!!
