Classroom Rules Be Prompt –This means you need to be doing the following before the bell rings. Be seated in your assigned seat. Work on the bell work. Have your student planner filled out.

Classroom Rules Be Prepared –Being prepared means having all of these things taken care of before the bell rings! Have your pencils sharpened. Have your completed homework turned in. Have plenty of notebook paper and pencils. Have any required textbooks with you. Get your mind focused on today’s work!

Classroom Rules Be Positive –Even if you don’t feel like it. Yes, it’s hard to do, but you can do it! Smile! Give compliments to others! Forgive others! Believe in yourself and your classmates! Be helpful without being bossy.

Classroom Rules Be Productive –You need to keep yourself busy at all times so that you do not disturb anyone else who is working. Manage your time Stay on task Focus! Complete your class work. Reflect in your journal. Read. Read! Begin homework or work on other class projects. Obtain permission before doing any work for another class.

Classroom Rules Be Polite –Show respect to everyone whether they deserve it or not. Greet everyone cheerfully. Listen when others are talking. Speak softly at all times. Hold the door for others. Help clean up the mess whether you created it or not. Wait your turn. Use your manners: please, thank you, yes/no ma’am or sir.

Classroom Procedures What’s the difference between a classroom rule and a classroom procedure?

Classroom Procedures 3... 2... 1... 0 –As soon as you hear me counting down, join me! –When we all reach 0 it is time for you to look and listen.

Classroom Procedures Independent Work –No talking –Raise your hand for help –Take turns sharpening your pencils as needed. No more than 2 people waiting in line. –Use library sign up as needed. Wait your turn. 3 people may be in the library at one time.

Classroom Procedures Partner Work –Use a soft, whisper voice. –Talk only with your partner! –Push your desks together. –Find personal space away from others. –Sharpen your pencils as needed. Only 2 people in line at a time. –Use only 1 computer station with your partner –Raise your hand for help or send one person to me unless I’m already talking with someone else.

Classroom Procedures Group Work –Use low, 12 inch voices –Find personal work space together and away from others. –Talk only with your group members. Do not disturb other groups. –Sharpen pencils as needed. Only 2 people waiting in line at a time. –Raise your hand for help or send one person to me, unless I’m already talking with someone else. –No more than 2 group members may visit the library at a time. –Only 1 group member may use the student computer stations at a time.

Classroom Procedures Teacher Directed Time –Keep your desks cleared of all items unless otherwise instructed. –No talking. –Listen. –Look at teacher/chalk board. –Stay in your seat. –Obtain permission before sharpening your pencil. –Do not go through your book bags, purses, student planner unless you are asked to do so.

Classroom Procedures Hall Passes –You may use up to three hall passes per quarter to use the restroom or go to your locker. –Only 1 person may be out of the room at a time. –No passes in the first or last ten minutes of class.

Classroom Procedures Homework/Classwork –Must be in cursive –Must be legible –Must have the proper heading Your grade will not be recorded until you comply with the above. Proper Heading First and Last Name Mrs. Bonner Period 3 7 th Name of the Assignment 1. Begin your work.

Classroom Schedule Bell work –Begins during passing time and ends two minutes after the bell. Reflect & Review –Questions for the previous homework assignment begins promptly after bell work. 2 minutes are spent with a partner. 2 minutes are spent with the teacher and 1 minute from the question box. Class work Question & Answer –Begins 12 minutes from the end of class. You have 2 minutes to ask any questions regarding the day’s class work or the current homework/project. Story Time –The last five to ten minutes of class (except for Fridays) will be spent listening to a story being read. Silent Reading –Every Friday you will be expected to read a novel of your choice for the last twenty minutes. You will not be allowed to go to the library during this time. You must have your book before silent reading time begins.
