Security Council u Primary responsibility - peace and security u Permanent members (P 5) China, France, Russia, UK, USA u Rotating members 10 member states elected by the GA

Economic And Social Council u Central forum for discussing international economic and social issues u Initiate studies,reports, recommendations on economic,social,cultural,educational and health related matters matters

u Promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedom u Not a decision making body u Membership – 54 elected by the GA

International Court Of Justice u The principle judicial organ u Open to all states that are parties to its statute u The GA and the SC can ask the court for an advisory opinion on any legal question

The Trusteeship Council u Supervise the administration of Trust Territories. u Originally 11 territories now independent. u Suspended, meets as and when required.
