Authorship: Is there a perceptible level of emotion involved in the piece? Does the piece automatically pull the listener into the music? Intent/message: Is the piece thought-provoking? Does it encourage the listener to contemplate its message, or is it simply background music? Subject: What is the lyricist describing? What is the plot underlying the account? List three places or things the author mentions. Conclusion: How might this song have contributed to the debate over the war? How might it have changed the way people thought? Who might it have influenced?
