3
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana GENERAL IDEA IS to implement new teaching and learning methods, to understand the topics in context as integrated problem, to achieve new competencies in natural sciences, in data collecting and evaluating, in use of ICT, in ecological awareness, in active citizenship…
4
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana Geography Objective: clean underground water Development of ecology in the world, Europe, Slovenija – the accordance of Slovenian legislation with the European legislation Slovenija is rich in underground water stores – studying the possibilities to prevent it from pollution Comparison of drinking water in Canada (native speaker involved) and in Slovenija
5
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana Mapping in groups of neighbourhood places regarding illegitimate waste deposits Reading articles and debating about underground water conditions Visiting the water supply power plant
6
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana Visit in the Kleče water supply power plant
7
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana Chemistry Objectives Studying the dissolving processes Studying the dissolving processes: the emphasis on lime stone and carbon dioxide equilibria – Slovenija is known for large Karst regions and numerous mineral waters: CaCO 3 (s) + CO 2 (aq) + H 2 O(l) Ca(HCO 3 ) 2 (aq)
8
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana Following the substances dissolved in water Following the substances dissolved in water regarding the quantity and health hazards regarding the quantity and health hazards Students search for the data and present the possible hazards for drinking water regarding: metal cations, heavy metals, ammonium NH 4 + (aq), H 2 S (aq), anions NO 2 - (aq), NO 3 - (aq), benzen and other similar substances, pesticides, halogenated hydrocarbons.
9
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana The preparation of drinking water The preparation of drinking water Studying the reports about impact of technical snow on the Alpine environment (especially the impact of on the Alpine environment (especially the impact of ammonium nitrate): ammonium nitrate): the debate in English, French or Slovenian about “pros” and “cons” Analysing different sources or springs in chemical Analysing different sources or springs in chemical laboratory laboratory - preparing samples, - testing water samples, - writing a report, - presenting the report to classmates and to parents
10
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana BIOLOGY Objectives: Objectives: to answer the questions 1. Why do we drink? 2. Why do we drink bottled water?
11
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana Topics of concern: water as a biological medium, dehydration, beverage with taste, stimulants, additives, water circle in nature, “self cleaning” of water, pollution of water sources, hidden trap in bottled water
12
Gimnazija Šentvid Ljubljana I fully agree with careful use of drinking water Emotional component. Leaking water taps, cleaning the cars… make me angry Dinamic c. I put off water taps, I take care not to pollute, I encourage the others to follow my example. Cognitive component Put off the water tap! A lot of drinking water can be preserved!
