1. WATER! WATER! HOW SAFE?

2. INTRODUCTION  Water is the fountain head of life.  For the development of human societies, water should be available in the acceptable quantity and quality.

3. NEED  In city everybody uses packaged drinking water.  To compare packaged drinking water requirement of Urban and Rural people.

4. METHODOLOGY  Survey in Varthur village - 22kms away from the city.  Analysis of water samples from bore well and public taps.

5. Data collected  Out of 72 houses, 43 houses use packaged water.  10 houses are using aqua guard.

6. Hypotheses  People in Varthur prefer packaged drinking water because tap water is hard and contaminated.

8. DATA ANALYSIS  Water is hard  High concentration of Sodium and Chloride  Bore well sample shows high concentration of Calcium and Phosphate

10. CONCLUSION  Drinking water treatment plant to be established.  Water sources should be protected.
