WHS - Volunteers

WHS Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) is everyone’s responsibility Moreton Bay Lions (MBL) has responsibility to provide, as far as practicable, a safe workplace The Volunteer has responsibility to ensure their safety WHS is more about COMMON SENSE

What does this mean… Moreton Bay Lions will endeavor to provide the necessary equipment & environment to ensure Volunteer safety Volunteers, be pro-active and report to a MBL WHS Officer anything which they consider may cause harm to either themselves or someone else

NAB Cup – FIRST AID Cuts / abrasions / minor falls / minor burns – apply First Aid Report incident to Area Manager and address issue Accident or incident that is major or you are unsure of, consult Area Manager Area Manager to record incident & seek appropriate help immediately

NAB Cup – Van’s SPILLS – Liquid – Clean them up Alcohol Beverages are to be OPENED when sold (teaspoon) No ‘Take-Away’ alcohol is to be sold Confined space – careful / efficient moving about Lifting heavy objects – get assistance Obstacles – keep work area clear of obstruction

NAB Cup - BBQ SPILLS – Liquid – Clean them up Tables to be cleaned regularly Use Gloves for serving food Use Utensils for cooking food Ensure correct storage of food – cover it, keep cool (cool room or ice) Lifting heavy objects – get assistance Obstacles – keep work area clear of obstruction

NAB Cup - Canteen SPILLS – Liquid – Clean them up promptly Bench areas to be cleaned regularly Use Gloves for serving food (where required) Be efficient and careful moving about workspace Obstacles – keep work area clear of obstruction Seek instruction from Canteen Managers

NAB Cup - Outside SLIP, SLOP, SLAP SLIP on a SHIRT SLOP on Sunscreen SLAP on a Hat HATS will be provided Hi-Vis Vests will be provided Marquees will be erected in BBQ area

NAB Cup - ALL NO Alcohol or Drugs to be consumed before shift or whilst working Wear enclosed footwear (runners are best) – no thongs Hydrate when necessary – MBL will provide Volunteer water Take a break if tired or fatigued (5-10mins) ALL DAY Volunteers – must have a lunch break Sign IN and OUT, when arriving and leaving Area station Look out for fellow Volunteers and their safety Be polite and courteous to ALL Have FUN and enjoy the day
