Presentation Goals Overview of the origin and results of Zetlins School-based Outreach Program Perspective from 3 of our clients who have implemented this program ODOT perspective

Why are we here today? We live in the world of ODOT What does ODOT do? –Project delivery How can incorporation of a school – based outreach program help you enhance your ability to deliver a great project for ODOT?

Why a School Program? Capitalizes on the fact that ODOT is an excellent civic partner Positions ODOT prime contractors (our clients) to conduct creative and engaging community outreach

Why a School Program? Generates interest in engineering and related careers among Oregons younger generation Promotes a sense of civic responsibility among young people, our future leaders

Results Today was a bridge day in more than one way. Today my sixth graders built bridges under the direction of ODOT folks, but the other bridge was the partnership that was built between our school and ODOT. Bonnie McCracken, Teacher Ashland Middle School

Results Thank you to ODOT for the recent presentation made to our 4th graders regarding the rebuilding of the I-5 overpass - the one we can see from our school. As a result, one student "helper" said to me, When I grow up, I want to be an engineer. That student happened to be my son. Trisha Evens, Principal Riverside Elementary School
