4 What is a Phase Diagram? A phase diagram shows the preferred physical states of matter at different temperatures and pressure. There exists for each gas a temperature above which the gas cannot be liquefied. This temperature, above which the gas cannot be liquefied, is called the critical temperature Triple point is the intersection on a phase diagram where three phases coexist in equilibrium
