What is Multimedia? Using computers to present the cross-reference between audio, text, animations, video and graphics.

Beginnings & Roots In 1965 the term “Multi-media” was used to describe a presentation using music lights cinema & perfomance art. Multimedia has its roots in the history of speech, theatre, music, photography, graphic design and computers.

Current Trends World wide web Multicast backbone: Same as conventional TV and Radio online. Coding/Compression Carrier Database Processing System Integration Technologies

Impacts digital photography and videography have had on Multimedia Photography made presentations on computers more interesting. Video made multimedia seem more advanced.

What is meant by social media (networking)? The use of websites and applications used for social networking. Facebook* Twitter*

What is a blog? Personal website/webpage Write about an event -situation -topic Used to record -opinions -individual records -links to other sites

What is a Podcast? A digital file made on the internet for downloading to a portable media player or computer. Audio broadcasting on the internet

Role of gaming and design Process of designing content and rules in a game. Design of gameplay environment storyline and characters. Much like directing a film. Requires artistic and technical competence

What is interactive media? Products and services on digital computer-based systems. Interactive media responds to the users actions in text, graphics, animation, video, audio, games.
