2. Family Safety Data FY 00-01 Through May 01, there were 163, 285 investigations initiated and 136,718 investigations closed. The closed cases included: 235,616 alleged child victims 109,130 children with findings of maltreatment. As of May 1, there were 17,890 children in foster care.
