Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory 7 Schedule for Preparatory Shake Tests

Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory 8 Preparatory Shake Test #1 3m Box Test : 9/21 – 10/05 Step 1: Fill the box with water for leak test & reduce level to 2 ft. Step 2: Pump the slurry to the laminar box up to 3m; density tests; CPT tests Step 3: Install accelerometers top of the soil Step 4: Remove Top 3m Rings Step 5: Safety Cables; Shaking/Actuator controls; Sensor/DAQ tuning Step 6: NDS & DS Shaking Step 7: Pump the slurry back to storage

Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory 9 3m Box Test Instrumentation Ring and Base Instrumentation: Accelerometers (Already installed) Soil Instrumentation: Put a steel/wood plate on top of the soil and install X-Accelerometers & Y-Accelerometers

Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory 10 3m Box Test - Instrumentation

Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory 11 Preparatory Shake Test #2 Step 1: Install limited soil instruments inside the box Step 2: Fill the box with water up to 2 ft. Step 3: Pump the slurry to the laminar box up to 6m; Density tests Step 4: CPT Step 5: Safety cables, Actuator/sensor/DAQ fine tuning Step 7: NDS & DS Shaking Step 8: CPT Step 9: Pump the slurry back to the storage areas 6m Box – LG-0 – 10/06-10/25/06
