MUSIC Elizabethan Music was a major form of entertainment.

The Elizabethan musicians enjoyed experimenting with various combinations of musical instruments. But the most popular combination of Elizabethan musical instruments would become known as an 'English Consort'. This combination of Elizabethan musical instruments initially consisted of 4 musical instruments. This quartet comprised of: Violin Viol Lute flute

The Tambourine - A small drum consisting of a circular frame with a skin stretched over it and several pairs of metal jingles attached to the frame, played by striking with the knuckles or shaking

String instruments were either plucked or bowed.

The Psaltery - The Psaltery was a cross between a harp and a guitar

Chittarone - a lute which could reach 6 feet tall

The Lizard - An s-shaped horn
