2. Rotations During guided reading, we will have three rotations. When you are not meeting with me for your guided reading group, you will either be working independently on your seat work assignment, or you will be at a center. When you hear the bell, that will signal that it’s time for the next rotation.

5. Reading Center At the reading center, you may pick the text you want to read and decide how you want to read it. Read to SelfPartner ReadListen to story on tape or cd.

6. Reading Center After you finish reading a story, complete an SSR activity at your desk. Choose any SSR activity from the flip chart in your table’s book basket. Most activities should be done in your writing journal. If needed, you may use construction paper.

7. Writing Center At the writing center, you may respond to one of the daily writing prompts, use the Story Starters book to write a creative story, or do SSW. All assignments for the writing center should be done in your writing journal.

8. Computer Center At the computer center, you can have fun with reading activities on Education City, Success Maker, or even take AR quizzes on Renaissance Place. Sometimes, there will be other websites and activities available.

9. Word Work Center At the word work center, you can practice a variety of skills by choosing an index card from flip chart. You may be working with the vocabulary words from a story we’ve read, practicing with synonyms and antonyms, identifying compound words, identifying the correct homophones in sentences, completing a word sort, identifying the definitions of multiple meaning words, and lots more.

10. Seat Work After our close reading lesson, I will distribute the assignment for you to complete independently at your desk when it’s your group’s time to do seat work. When completing your seat work, you are expected to be silent. If you have a question about the assignment, remember my rule… See 3 Before Me! If you need to talk to a neighbor because you need help, or you are providing help to someone else, you are expected to use a whisper table voice. All seat work assignments need to be submitted to the completed work basket when you are finished. Be sure to put your name on all work you’re turning in.

11. Guided Reading with Miss Mason Guided reading is a time for you to meet with Miss Mason and your group members. We will be working very hard so that you become a strong reader who reads with accuracy, fluency, confidence, and who demonstrates comprehension of what is being read.
