WP4: Planned Activities -1 Activity 4.1 Preparation of local step by step plans for capacity building and pilot activities Approach Form of LAGs to enhance cooperation between stakeholders influencing energy efficiency and use of RES: – Decision makers – Public authorities – Technicians involved in energy management (technology/product providers) – other key stakeholders (i.e. Chambers, consumer associations) Experts will support LAGs work LAGs will prepare plans and test measures in local activities
5
WP4: Planned Activities - 2 Activity 4.2 Capacity building and knowledge transfer for public bodies Approach Targeted workshops focused on the needs of employees, taken into account the identified (activity 3.1) obstacles Materials prepared by Expert Working Groups (formed in WP3; based on WP3 methods but customised to regional/local needs and specific conditions Appropriate practical materials to aid participants memorise the key principles Assure availability and sustainability of materials
6
WP4: Planned Activities - 3 Activity 4.3 Improvement of the local energy strategies based on the pilot testing of the new approach ˃ Improve energy strategies from gained knowledge ˃ Increased competences will enable more effective implementation of energy strategies and SEAPs ˃ Assure sustainability of project outcomes in local communities
7
WP4: Roles and responsibilities Main Responsibilities Who WP LEADER Advice on formation of local action groups Prepare a template for local step-by-step plans Propose topics and structure of the workshops Prepare materials for their implementation Instructions for improvement of local energy strategies Prepare a template of a report on their implementation Implement all activities in the Greek pilot area TUC
8
WP4: Roles and responsibilities Main Responsibilities Who Partner with the pilot action formation of LAG preparation of the local step-by- step plans for capacity buildings organisation of the workshops for the local action groups with their active participation translation and adaptation of materials Participating partner without the pilot action participation in LAGs contribution to the local step-by-step plans for capacity buildings active participation at the workshops for the local action groups participation in the adaptation of the materials

11
WP4: Interactions with other WPs WP4 and WP3 Activity 4.1 is directly related to 3.1 (3.1 will form the basis for 4.1) Activity 4.2 will use materials/customise developed in 3.2 for the workshops WP4 and WP5 On the basis of the plan prepared by LAG in A4.1, local partnerships will be formed in A5.1
12
WP4 Priorities Seek input from local communities and key local actors; Identify real need of public authorities Involve key stakeholders in pilot areas; facilitate local partnerhips Increase knowledge and competences of public authorities employees Identify strategies that can be straight away implemented
13
WP4 Key elements to successful implementation Active involvement of LAG members in each pilot area Support implementation of measures from the local strategy Workshops based on the needs of the employees Assess and make improvements on local energy strategies in pilot areas
14
Next Steps The next steps to be done by each partner, prior to next meeting, under the guidance of TUC, are: 1.Formation of Local Action Groups: – Local Action Groups are basically Local Green Partnerships. To be formed by connecting public organisations involved in energy management, owners and suppliers, potential investors, employees and final users (households, users of pubic buildings etc). – Local Action Groups will work at the local level with the support of experts from the transnational expert groups formed in WP3.
15
Next Steps The next steps to be done by each partner, prior to next meeting, under the guidance of TUC, are: 2. Analyze key local potentials – Suitable Renewable Energy Sources (RES) – Identify the obstacles risen from existing projects/studies 3.Prepare local energy strategy – Identification of local energy needs – How to establish links between cities and their hinterland 4. Local step-by-step guide and pilot activities – LAGs will prepare the local step-by-step plans – How to enhance capacity building and implementation of measures in the local strategy
16
WP4 : Discussion topics Obstacles that prevent existing strategies from efficient implementation Approach for the creation of local partnerships Integrated approaches to analyse the key local potentials Experience of partners in the existing MED projects ZeroCO2, ELIH-MED Existing studies, industry reports
