GALLIUM INFO Gallium is a metal found in the 13th group on the Periodic Table of Elements. Gallium was discovered by a man named Paul-Émile Lecoq de Boisbaudran in 1875. Gallium’s etymological name originated, when Boisbaudran named it after France, his home country. Gallium recieved its chemical symbol, Ga, as an abbreviation of Gallium.
4
Gallium does not exist in any compounds in nature.
It also has no appearance in any natural form.
5
COMMON USES Gallium salts are used in medical imaging.
In creating mirrors. To dope semiconductors. In high temperature thermometers. (High temperature thermometer)
6
STATE OF MATTER GALLIUM WOULD MELT IN THE HUMAN HAND OR AT ROOM TEMPERATURE.
7
Chemical Properties GALLIUM IS NOT FLAMMABLE.
WHEN GALLIUM IS IN DRY AIR IT STAYS STABLE, IN MOIST AIR, IT TARNISHES. WHEN GALLIUM IS IN WATER, IT MELTS.
8
GALLIUM IN NATURE GALLIUM ISN’T FOUND IN NATURE. IT IS A MIXTURE OF MERCURY (Hg), CESIUM (Cs) AND RUBIDUM (Rb). GALLIUM IS OBTAINED BY SMELTING(FUSING THE METALS TOGETHER). GALLIUM IS MAN-MADE.
9
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES GALLIUM’S BOILING POINT IS 2,204 DEGREES C.
IT’S MELTING POINT IS DEGREES C. GALLIUM HAS A DENSITY OF 5.91 GRAMS PER UNIT CENTIMETER.
