What does God want? Micah 6:6-8

Scripture:Micah 6:6-8 6 Wherewith shall I come before the L ORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

7 Will the L ORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the L ORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Question # 1 Question #1 How shall I come before The Lord, and bow myself before the High God?

Bowing before God…. Old Testament: New Testament Isa. 45:23 “That to me (God said) every knee Shall bow.” Rom. 14:11 For it is written, as I live, saith the Lord, Every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

Old Testament: Is this what God wanted from the Israelites? Shall I come before the Lord with burnt offerings, with Calves of a year old? What does He want from us?

We Live under Christ Law??? Saul. Acts 9:7 Lord, what wilt thou have me to Do? The Phillippian jailer..Acts 16:30 Sirs, what must I do To be saved. ? The Corinthians. Acts l8:8 Hearing, believed and Were baptized.

Question # 2 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with Ten thousands of rivers of oil. Shall I give my Firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body For the sin of my soul?. What kind of sacrifices must I give to Please God?

Then…. What God wanted from them? Would this please Him? King Saul. I Sam. 15:1-23 Did he give God what He wanted? No! Naaman. 2 Kings 5:11 Could not be cleansed until he did what God said!

Now-- Worship without obedience is meaningless!! 1.Can we go through the motions on Sunday and Live the rest of the week as we want to. (Mtt.5:16) 2. Can we give liberally to God, and then not love our Neighbor? (Jno. 13:35) 3. Can we eat the Lord’s Supper, but harbor bitterness Against a neighbor, Mtt.5:23-24;Mt.18:15-17…friend or brother????

Answer: Then… GOD HATH SHOWN THEE WHAT IS GOOD. God had told Israel what He wanted…. What He required! 1. To do Justly…Do right…treat others right…

Now Be just…Justice means to see that the rights of others are protected. You are concerned about them! 1. James 1:27 Pure religion is: visit (assist, help) Fatherless and widows… 2. Take meals to the sick and shut-ins 3. Practricing PURE RELIGION… That’s what God Requires of us today!

Israelites were to ‘love mercy” Mercy literally means ‘lovingkindness’... Micah is telling these Jews to love one another.

Under the New Testament, ‘love one another’ Jesus said: ‘love your neighbor as yourself. Matt. 22:39 Our love is to be without hypocrisy…Rom. 12:9 l. Go to the funeral home…hospital…home 2. Send cards, texts, telephone calls…. John 13:35 By this shall all men Know that you are My disciples, if you have love one for another. 1. When brethren are going through difficulties…we can Assist them, talk to them, pray for them. Help them

“The ancients said of the early Christians: They love each other without knowing each Other… and Behold, how these Christians love one Another!

Israelites are told: ‘walk humbly with thy God’ Humility before God… Isa. 57:15 Behold, Walking with God meant that Israel was to keep God’s covenant with them. 2 Kings 23:3 consider this example:

Example: King Josiah 2 Kings 23:3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a Covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to Keep his commandments and his testimonies and his Statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform The words of this covenant that were written in this Book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

We today! Under the New Testament Law…’walk humbly before thy God! I Pet.5:7 Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God And he will exalt you in due time! 1 His Law says: Matt. 6:33 But seek ye first 2. His Law says.. Gal. 6:2

Brethren/Sisters..Friends, Relatives, Neighbors How are you appearing now before God? How will you appear before God when you meet Him? 1. Be baptized for the remission of sins 2. Live faithfully 24/7 3. Live today as you want to appear when you Meet Him. 2 Cor. 5:10

Live a Happy, Joyful, Contented Obedient life… THAT’S WHAT GOD WANTS FOR YOU!

We can only accomplish this, by knowing and doing God’s Will!
