About Me 22 Year Veteran, U.S. Air Force Bioenvironmental Engineering Industrial Hygiene, Environment Monitoring, Radiation Safety Think: OSHA, EPA, DOE 6 years computer operations/network mgt – post military Love to travel and do outdoor activities

What is your child learning this year? Fraction computations, mainly multiply and divide Computing with decimals and percents Pre-Algebra; Variables, relationships (graphs, tables, symbols) Integers (negative nos.) and the coordinate plane Geometry; Circles, 3-D measurements, scales factors, transformations, similarities Probability, reason about uncertainty Statistics; Box Plots and Histograms

Typically due the next day Homework completion essential to success ½ of Effort grade 1 Points—Completed and on time Incomplete work not given full credit Save returned assignments (grade insurance!)

It’s about the math! The paper should be able to stand-alone Complete sentences support by the math Include information from the problem Show all computations Make sure to answer all questions

Ask to see it daily Parent helper sheets are available at CMP website Refer to student’s notes Stuck? Have child write what they know and don’t know Phone a friend Write a note

Spiral notebook or 3-Ring binder Reason Keeps student focused on lesson Writing helps the learning process Useful for homework and tests

Full credit (2 days for each day out) Responsible for material on tests Get assignment /copy notes Call in to office Email me for electronic copy

Grading Academic Grade 100% Assessments (quizzes, unit tests, and projects) Retakes available (if all practice is done) Effort Grade Daily work (journal)(50%) and Homework (50%) 0% of academic grade Behavior Grade 3 Rs Guide Classroom Mgt Automatically score 3 points each day Lose points for not “doing the right thing”

Grading Cont’d Check Skyward for grading Updated at least weekly Printed Progress Reports Typically once every few weeks and two weeks out from the end of each term.
