2 Delaware Health and Social Services Mission We are a safety net for the poor, working poor and newly poor. When individual and families have no place to turn, they come to State Service Centers for help with food, shelter, payment of utilities and other basic needs. We work to strengthen families and communities by promoting volunteer opportunities and service to address critical needs in Delaware. Division of State Service Centers

4 Delaware Health and Social Services The centers are strategically located providing one stop shopping for human services delivered by Divisions of State Service Centers, Social Services, Public Health, and several other divisions in Health and Social Services as well as the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families and the Department of Correction. Regional CentersRegional Centers Adams (Georgetown), Milford, Williams (Dover), Hudson (Newark), Northeast (Wilmington), and Porter Area CentersArea Centers Shipley (Seaford) and DeLaWarr Neighborhood CentersNeighborhood Centers Bridgeville, Laurel, Pyle, Smyrna, Appoquinimink, Belvedere, and Claymont 15 Community-Based Locations

5 Delaware Health and Social Services Client Emergency Assistance Services ■ CRAS = Community Resource and Assistance Program ■ EAS = Emergency Assistance Services ■ Utility = Utility Fund

6 Delaware Health and Social Services Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Funds address the causes and conditions of poverty, promote self- sufficiency, family stability, economic opportunity and community development. CSBG works in partnership with First State Community Action Agency. Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) LIHEAP helps Delawareans with incomes up to 200% of poverty with heating and cooling bills. This program is administered in partnership with Catholic Charities. Office of Community Services

8 Family Visitation Provides a safe haven for children to visit and re-unite with non- custodial parents. This program is mandated by court order and administered in partnership with Family Court and community agencies.Adopt-A-Family Provides special assistance to low income households at holiday time, back-to-school, and year-round. Office of Community Services Office of Community Services Food and Nutrition Program DSSC provides state funding for the Food Bank of Delaware and Catholic Charities, which in turn funds 33 non-profits to stock food closets, mobile pantries and food to 397 Brown Bag Clubs.

11 Delaware Health and Social Services AmeriCorps and Senior Corps Federally funded community service programs under the Corporation of National and Community Service (AmeriCorps, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and Foster Grandparents (FGP)). Volunteer Delaware Volunteer Delaware Website volunteer credit, consultations with non-profit organizations, special events, days of service State Office of Volunteerism (SOV)
