3 Significance and Problems The main purpose of teaching in schools nowadays is to help students to learn by themselves. One thing we can do is to do the tasks by ourselves with the good advice from teachers. Doing project work is one of the best ways to support student’s learning and need.

4 Nowadays “Mint” is a very important product. We have used mint to cook since the past to these days. Such as Larb –Esaan dish, after we cook Larb we always add mint leaves on the top of it for decorating then Larb will be taste better with mint. Mint is very easy to grow, usually every house has mint in the garden. Significance and Problems

5 Purposes of doing the project were to study 1. History and kinds of mint 2. Various food which have been composed of “Mint” and cooking procedure using mint. 3. The benefits of mint.

6 Results of the study History of Mint Mint is known to have originated in Asia and the Mediterranean region. In many cultures, mint symbolized hospitality and was offered as a sign of welcome and friendship to guests as they arrived.

7 Results of the study Mint was also often used as an air freshener and was placed in the rooms of houses, synagogues and temples to clear and freshen the air and rid the smell of unpleasant odours from the room. The Greeks and the Romans used mint as a perfume and a bath scent, as well as using it in medicine and in cooking.

8 Orange Mint or Bergamot Mint Use Orange Mint for culinary or cosmetic uses. Try adding crushed orange mint to a hot bath in the winter for an invigorating aromatherapy bath. Use Orange Mint in teas, desserts, salad dressings, with poultry and seafood. Excellent dried or fresh. Kinds of Mint

9 Water Mint, Marsh Mint or Wild Mint It can be used in conjunction with stomach remedies and in difficult menstruation. A strong infusion is inclined to be emetic. A decoction of Water Mint prepared with vinegar is recommended to stop blood vomiting.

10 Peppermint Peppermint ( Mentha piperita), a popular flavoring for gum, toothpaste, and tea, is also used to soothe an upset stomach or to aid in digestion. Because it has a calming and numbing effect, it has been used to treat headaches, skin irritations, anxiety associated with depression, nausea, diarrhea, menstrual cramps, and flatulence.

11 Egyptian Mint Egyptian Mint has a flavor similar to Apple Mint. But, this is a much more robust plant with sturdy upright stems and large velvety gray leaves. Mint freely crosses and many different kinds have evolved from this wild hybridization. Some of these wild plants are great and some are stinky or taste bitter.

12 Apple Mint 'Apple Mint' is a delightful garden herb with very attractive apple green foliage. Apple Mint can be used as a ground cover and harvested for use in teas, jams, jellies or cooking. Wonderful to use fresh or dried.

13 Spearmint Spearmint is a wonderfully easy to grow garden herb that has a fresh spearmint fragrance and flavor. Use Spearmint for culinary, medicinal or cosmetic uses and of course teas. Leafy spikes of the Spearmint plant display purple-hued flowers in the summer. Excellent dried or fresh.

14 Oreo mint chocolate chip ice cream dessert Ingredients : 26 Oreo cookies, crushed 1/3 c. butter, soft 1/2 gal. mint chocolate chip ice cream 1 sm. jar fudge topping 1 sm. carton Cool Whip How to cook : Mix cookies and butter together and pat into cold cut keeper 9 x 12 inches. Spread 1/2 gallon ice cream on cookie mixture. Spread with fudge topping then Cool Whip. Sprinkle 2 crushed Oreo's on whip cream. Freeze 24 hours.

15 Ingredients :1/2 cup of ground chicken 1/2 cup of chicken skin 1/2 cup of sliced chicken giblets 1-2 tablespoons of fish sauce Ground dry red chili 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice 2 tablespoons of ground roasted-rice Fresh pepper 4-5 heads of shredded red onion 2 stocks of shredded cilantro 3 stocks of shredded green onion 1 cup of mint leaves How to cook : -Crop chicken and chicken skin then boil then, Add chicken giblet. -Let them cool and put them in a bowl -Add fish sauce, lemon juice, ground dry red chili and mix them -Add all vegetables then ground roasted-rice Larb Kai

16 N ausea & Headache: Whenever you are feeling under the weather, the refreshing smell of mint can help you feel better again. Respiratory Disorders & Coughs: The scent of mint is very effective in opening up congestion of nose, throat, bronchi and lungs which can help relieve certain respiratory disorders and relieving symptoms of the common cold. Mint tea is a very healing drink when you are feeling under the weather. Skin Care: Many natural skin care products contain mint due to its antiseptic properties. It is a great cleanser on the skin that will clear acne without over drying. It soothes skin, cures infections, and gets rid of redness caused from minor skin irritations. It can also be used to treat insect bites. Benefits and Production of mint

17 Lose Weight with nose smelling mint. Before meals to full speed. Eaten before a meal, mint acts as an efficient digestive agent without upsetting the stomach. It also soothes stomach in cases of indigestion. The smell of mint activates the saliva glands in our mouth as well as glands which secrete digestive enzymes, helping our body break down food in the digestion process.

18 Spearmint oil Spearmint oil is first and for most considered the more gentle version of Peppermint oil, suitable for use with children and others who may find peppermint too strong. Spearmint is valued around the world as a culinary herb, and for its gentle medicinal properties.

19 Conclusion From our research, we found that mint was classified to many kinds such as Orange Mint, Water Mint, Peppermint, Egyptian Mint, Apple Mint and Spearmint. Mint is used for various drink, dessert and food. We got many dishes which have been mint composed of in this project, there are only 10 dishes for Thai food and 8 for drink and desserts just for example. Addition mint has been widely used for a natural breath freshener for centuries, and today products containing mint are all over the market and used in industry Mint is now put in toothpaste, gums, mouth washes, candies, inhalers, shampoos, insect repellents, indigestion remedies and sweets and much more. This project can improve our English ability in speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. This project work is the most useful for everybody who is interested in mint.
