ERGONOMICS BETTER HEALTH IN COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
2
School Workstations School computer workstations are designed to accommodate average size middle school students. Sometimes you may be uncomfortable sitting at school workstations and have awkward arm and head positions. There are some things you can do to feel more comfortable and protect your body at the same time.
3
Sitting Sit with feet and lower back supported. Pillows, pads, boxes, and big books can be used to help make the chair fit you better. If your feet do not reach the floor, use a footrest, This way you have something to lean back against and your feet to rest on.
4
Keyboard Keep your shoulders down, arms relaxed and elbows level with the keyboard. Your fingers should be slightly curved with your wrist slightly elevated. You should not have to reach up to the keyboard. Your arms, shoulders and neck will get sore quickly if the keyboard is too high for you.
5
Monitor The computer monitor (screen) should be right in front of you and a little lower than your eyes. Your eyes should be level with the text on the monitor. Looking up at a monitor that is too high can cause a headache and neck pain.
6
Do Not Slump Even with the perfect chair and computer table, you need to remember to lean back in your chair and rest on the backrest when you are typing. Don't slouch or lean forward. Remember to sit up straight.
