CLUSTERING EVOLUTION $ Old days Virtualized architecture $ $ $

WHAT DOES FREE HYPER-V OFFER OUT OF THE BOX? Out of box Experience enhancements

HYPER-V CLUSTER SETUP 1.Configure and provision shared storage 2.Install the Failover Clustering feature on each Hyper-V host 3.Install the MPIO feature on each Hyper-V host 4.Configure an external virtual network switch on each Hyper-V host 5.Validate the configuration of Hyper-V hosts 6.Create a new cluster

STORAGE COMPONENT Zero hardware footprint o Dramatically reduced CapEx and OpEx o Complete fault tolerance with just 2 servers o No specialized staff required for management o Can run on Free & Core Windows Server editions

WHY HYPER-CONVERGED Native Windows application High performance for Microsoft Hyper-V due to reducing I/O path: reads and writes go locally and server side running RAM and flash cache dramatically increases the performance

VM WORKLOAD IN MIND VM-Centric Storage (LSFS) a combination of RAM and Flash as multi-layered cache is used to eliminate random IO on magnetic disks. Multiple small random writes are coalesced into big sequential I/O writes. This allows to achieve up to 90% raw sequential write performance of the underlying storage. Deduplication VM and flash-friendly space reduction technologies such as in-line deduplication, increasing usable capacity of all-flash configurations and prolonging flash life-cycle

OF COURSE THE MUST HAVE FEATURES Snapshots and Automated Storage Tiering implementing inter-node tiering technology to offload “cold” data from fast primary all-flash storage to slower high capacity secondary storage tier Asynchronous replication Mission-critical business data is replicated to a disaster recovery site. Replication is implemented to be asynchronous, background, deduplication, and compression-aware as well as snapshot-based to reduce load on slow WAN connections

MANAGEMENT COMPONENT Turn PowerShell into GUI Dramatically simplify and save money on Hyper-V management Manage your Hyper-V clusters Get a user-friendly management GUI for Windows Server Core and Microsoft Hyper-V Server Manage different Hyper-V versions (2012 R2/ 2012/ 2008 R2 SP1) from a single console Use any client 64-bit system starting from Windows 7, to access and manage your Hyper-V hosts remotely

MANAGE HIGH AVAILABLE HYPER-V CLUSTER  Add cluster into 5nine Manager console  Check cluster available storage  Add or remove VM to/from cluster  Enjoy live migration  Pause cluster nodes with or without draining roles, when needed  Resume cluster nodes with or without draining roles, when needed  Check all VMs statuses in a split of a second, right in the tree view

EASILY CREATE VMS OUT OF TEMPLATES Clone your “golden image” (Template VM) as many times as you need. To create a “golden image” (Template VM) Create a VM with needed parameters Install and configure OS Install and configure required software Run sysprep Keep this VM in off state, to use it as a template

TASKS ARE PERFORMED IN THE BACKGROUND Keep working on your management operations, while tasks are being performed in the background Make your waiting time – a productive time!

GET NOTIFIED IF…  New VM is created  VM is removed  VM is started or restarted  VM is turned off  VM is imported or exported  VM replication failed  VM configuration changed
