Ella Fitzgerald “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”
4
Texture: is the way melody, rhythm, and harmony are combined in a composition to determine the overall quality of the sound of a piece. (Benward & Saker) – It is usually described as the thickness, density, or range of a piece
5
Notice the beginning of the piece has a thin texture. Even in this piano and voice reduction, you can see that the piano has the harmony which is simple and is a nice intro to the piece.
6
The full texture comes in after the introduction, when the chorus comes in.
7
Can you hear the trumpets and the orchestra playing louder?
8
The texture gets fuller as the song progresses and by the end of the piece it has climaxed and has gotten louder and more intense.
