Task One A drug is any chemical that alters how our body works. Drugs that affect our CNS control the movement of chemicals across the synapse. These are called recreational drugs eg hallucinogens The natural chemicals in our nervous system have shapes that fit like a key in a lock . Drugs have a similar shape to these chemicals and mimic (copy) what they do. How might this affect your body?

7 So whats a medicinal drug?
I know the difference between medicinal and recreational drugs I know that the overall effect of legal drugs on health is far worse than the effect of illegal drugs So whats a medicinal drug? A medicinal drug is taken to cure and/or alleviate any symptoms of an illness or medical condition, or may be used as a preventive. Did you know? Many problems today are caused by legal drugs eg tobacco and alcohol BECAUSE they are so widely used AND ABUSED!

I can explain that drugs change the chemical processes in the body and that in some cases that can lead to addiction Task Three The effects of different drugs Some drugs change the chemical processes in your body so that you become addicted – dependant on them. This enters you into a downward spiral of negative effects. What is this cycle? ACHES, PAINS, HEADACHE, SWEATING, SHAKING, CRAVING. These are called withdrawal symptoms
