2. Developed for GRHCC Charles Schmitt MD 3/11/2007 Sending a Consult –Finding it. In a visit, go to Orders Tab Go through the Consults Menu to find the consult of your choice. Fill out the Consult through the EHR Make sure your provisional diagnosis and reason for request are sufficiently filled out.

3. Developed for GRHCC Charles Schmitt MD 3/11/2007 Close the Loop Once you have filled out and signed the consult – make sure that your patient will get and keep an appointment. You may want to call that clinic for the patient to set it up, or encourage your patient to go over there. The Appointment Desk Personnel could also facilitate this process.

4. Developed for GRHCC Charles Schmitt MD 3/11/2007 Results When your consult is completed or cancelled – you will get a notification.\ This way you get immediate feed back. You can also go to any of the consults you’ve sent and check on their status to see if they have and when they’ve been scheduled.
