US Railcar Is Developing A Natural Gas Powered Self-Propelled Passenger Rail Car We have vetted our ideas with and received feedback from… Major Transit Agencies State and Federal Departments of Transportation Natural Gas Suppliers Component Designers and Vendors Propulsion Experts The Center for Automotive Research at Ohio State University Marketplace and Professional Field Work Factory visits Consultation with key congressional committees/staff… US Railcar’s Natural Gas Powered Passenger Rail Car will help you optimize your fleet investment resources! 2

And There Is More... Cost-Effective EMU/DMU to GMU/Dual Mode Conversions 3 End of service life EMUs or DMU --- or those facing a midlife overhaul --- Are good candidates for NG conversion and refurbishment by US Railcar Can become dual mode Natural Gas/Electric railcars DMU conversions can also get a more efficient mechanical drive.

For every 8 trainsets carrying 140 passengers, each averaging 125,000 miles per year (about 5 trips per day), GMUs offer… Lower Lifetime Ownership Costs $1 Million less maintenance over 30 years $125,000+ annual fuel savings Reduced emissions and noxious fumes may permit tunnel operation 5,000-10,000 pounds lighter Converting existing DMUs should yield 3-4 year ROI (fuel-maintenance) US Railcar’s Clean, Quiet, Efficient (CQE) GMU would help transit agencies avoid the capital and maintenance costs of electrification What $200 Million in upfront savings could mean: 100 years of clean CNG fuel for US Railcar’s GMU GMU Benefits: The Numbers 4

Concept Phase: Done Final Design: In Process Demonstrator: On the Way A provisional patent application has been issued to USR for our natural gas self propelled passenger rail car concept. The renowned Center for Automotive Research (CAR) at Ohio State University is an advisor on this project. Partners in transit agencies have committed to contributing existing cars for EMU and DMU conversions Andrew Littlefair, CEO of Clean Energy Fuels (a T. Boone Pickett company) and Jim Needham of PSI Engines are advisors to US Railcar on this project. Safety discussions with FRA have started. 6
