Backbone Update Core Optical network upgraded from 2.5G to 10G on rings 0,1,2, and 3 was completed by 11/15/2008 Core Router Upgrade from Cisco GSR 12000 to Juniper M Series to support the expanded 10G capacity at Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Toledo was completed by 11/15/2008 Completed the installation of Cisco aggregation equipment throughout the network to support the migration of all state agencies to BON Completed implementation of Internet2 access for the K-12 community

Backbone Update Current Subscription is ~5Gbps Current purchased capacity is 4.788Gbps Have CPS as safety valve ~ 3 Gbps (total 5 Gbps) Can pursue N+1 for outage coverage Purchased Internet2 backup (for CPS) at OMNIpop (via MERIT) Talks with MERIT to provide Commodity backup, have been successful. Qwest turn up of 10G service is January 12, 2009 Risk analysis shows only issue would be CPS and Commodity fail at the same time
