Education in Germany In Germany school attendance is compulsory for 11 to 12 years. German secondary education includes four different types of school. These are the hauptschule which prepares pupils for vocational education, the realschule(gives more emphasis to intermediate pupils), gymnasium (is designed to prepare pupils for university education) and the gesamtshcule.

Germany's geography Germany is a country in central Europe, stretching from the Alps, across the north European plain to the north sea and the Baltic sea. Germany has the second largest population in Europe (about 81.880.000). The territory of Germany covers 357.021 km, consisting of 349.223 km of land and 7.798 km of water.

Sports in Germany The most popular sports among Germans are jogging, skating, Nordic walking (Nordic walking is to walk with some specially designed poles similar with ski poles) and cycling but Germans also enjoy unusual sports such as, Bungee jumping, boxing and deep sea fishing.

Leisure time in Germany Germans spend their free time attending cultural events, and hanging out with friends. Men like DIY while women enjoy spending their leisure time on grooming, going shopping and making phone calls. According to a survey in Germany people spend less time watching Tv and listening to radio or music than other European countries.

German arts Germany has written history in music thanks to some great German musicians and composers. These are Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Richard Wagner and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Except music German art has a long tradition in the visual arts (visual arts are artifacts inspired by nature).
