How do you see the 3 principles of How Students Learn informing your own teaching practices? Of these, where do you see yourself having the most difficulties fulfilling these ideals? How can this project help you address these difficulties? How could you use the 3 principles of How Students Learn to help you develop learning progressions in your classroom?

Informing the kids more, making it more intentional, helping kids see the big picture Ask probing questions, make them think more Need to find out where the kids are coming from Look at cultural biases, take these into account Don’t assume the kids have the same experiences as we did or as each other State standards seem to push us toward principle 2 When doing inquiry, we must also stress content Students have misconceptions during inquiry, must address these Students have poor observational skills Relate the “big picture” to the facts Teach metacognition through modeling. When we teach the same thing time after time, it becomes habit and we forget how we learned it
