“Time for R and R!” Luke 22:14-20

Review and Reflect The Lord’s Supper: A Collision of Two Worlds! At His Table: * Grace * Forgiveness * Peace * Love * Hope Your Reality May Be: * Brokenness * Bitterness * Insecurity * Fear * Despair

Is peace ALWAYS in the middle of God’s will? A review of Luke 22 (Jesus betrayed!) * vs. 3 – “Satan entered into Judas” * vs. 4 – “he…discussed…how he might betray Him to them…” * vs. 19,20 – “This is My body…in My blood…” * vs. 21 – “betrayal” * vs. 23 – “blame” * vs. 24 – “which one was the greatest…” DISCIPLES IN DISARRAY! 

1. Reflect on this: People That We Love Suffer! Suffering in Psalms! Our church’s growing edges: * praying people * compassionate people * humble people * a people with a testimony God softens the heart thru pain and suffering Jesus on the cross: “If I be lifted up…” (John 12:32)

2. Some Suffer Unjustly (in our eyes)! Children who suffer Prayer list: Jim / Linda’s Weigel’s gson 2 six-year-olds with cancer Seniors who have faithfully served the Lord * Dr. Billy Graham (Parkinson’s, 1992) * Flat Creek Baptist seniors SO IT WAS FOR JESUS ON THE CROSS: “He knew no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21) “His own knew Him not” (John 1:11)

3. What’s different With Jesus…. * It pleased God – Isaiah 53:10 This is not a funeral – Jesus lives! “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14-15)

4. Reflect on His Presence When We Share "Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?" (1 Cor. 10:16). We share in his crucifixion (Galatians 2:20), death (Romans 6:4), resurrection (Eph. 2:6) and life (John 1:4).

5. Reflecting on His Return Luke 22:16,18 – “I shall never again eat it (drink) until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes” (1 Corinthians 11:26). The “table” points us to the horizon of hope!

… And His Coming Kingdom! “He will be among His people” (Rev. 21:3) “No more death, mourning, crying, or pain (Rev. 21:4) “I am making all things new” (Rev. 21:5) Beyond all imagination (1 Corinthians 2:9) “looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus” (Titus 2:13)
