2. Haroun Tazieff was born in Varsovie, on may 11th 1914. He died in February 1998. He was first a geologist / agronomist and then he became a famous volcanologist. He has the russian nationality and he was naturalized belgian in 1936. He came in Belgium in 1920. He has revolutionized the sciences ! He did a lot of sport, he was a fighter. He made his military service in Belgium and made his studies in Brussel. He was a soldier and a resistant, he was naturalized french in 1971, so he lost his belgian nationality. He was buried in the cemetery at Passy in Paris.

3. His passion begin when he learned the eruption of Kituro in Congo in 1948. He created and animated a volcanology center at the university of Brussel in 1957. He devoted himself to a lot of volcanology expeditions like the Etna. He was appointed director many times anywhere in Europe. He had the greatest post of the history of volcanology. In 1981, he was the commisioner for the prevention of natural disasters.

5. Haroun Tazieff had also makes a documentary called "Les Rendez-vous du diable". The vulcanologist shows in this film craters in service of volcanoes of Europe, Indonesia, Japan, Central America and South America. In 1966 he realised his third film called "Le Volcan Interdit" showing an expedition investigates the crater of Niragongo, volcano of the chain of Virunga, in Zaïre.
