WHAT CAUSES A FLOOD AND TYPES OF FLOODS A lot of rain River overflow When ice and snow melts There are many types of floods Flash floods when it rains very hard for a few hours Rapid on set flood smiler to flash flood but takes longer to develop

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HURRICANE, CYCLONE AND TYPHOON All three of them are the same but they have different names when they are in difference places. it is called a hurricane when it is In the Atlantic. It is a cyclone when it is in north east pacific. It is called a typhoon when it is in the south pacific or Indian ocean.
6
WHAT IS THE EYE OF A CYCLONE The eye of a cyclone is the calm part of it. (middle) when this part of the cyclone passes some people come out and think it is over but it is only the middle. That can be dangerous when people come out thinking it is over because it could start the wind again and pick them up. Eye of the cyclone

CYCLONE TRACEY TRACY Cyclone Tracy was in Darwin Northern Territory and went from Christmas eve to Christmas day 1974. The eye of the cyclone passed around midnight and 7am. The speed that was recorded of the wind was 217 kilometres per hour 53 people where killed on land and 13 at sea and that makes a total of 66 people killed. 70% of Darwin's homes were destroyed or damaged a little. 30% of Darwin's homes survived.
8
BEAUFORT SCALE It is used to measure the speed and what the wind will destroy Forcespeeddestroys 14Smoke and dust move. 210Leaves move around. 317Twigs sway in the wind. 426Small branches move. 536Small trees sway. 648Large branches move. 758Whole tree moves. 872Small branches brake off. 985Houses start to get damaged. 1098Trees brake. 11112Damage to trees homes etc. 12117+Damage to everything else.

2009 BLACK SATURDAY The day of black Saturday was a tragedy when many homes where lost. It started on the 7 th of February 2009. The bushfire killed around 173 people. 2,100 homes where destroyed. Displaced around 7,562 people (in this case means forced to leave their home). Brendan Salouka age 47 said the fire had started because he had dropped a smoke ash on to the ground but found out to be a lie. Some say he deliberately lit the fire and that there where 2 others that where involved. The temperature reached 46◦c and winds of 100km per hour. One Australian fighter was killed when a burnt tree fell on him. The distance the fore could travel in 30 seconds is 600m

WAYS FIRES START When there is a storm and lighting hits the tree. When you have a bon fire and it could be windy, hot and dry Dropping a smoke and it isn't put out. If fireworks are set off and the person handling them is not a professional. Leaking of petrol and hot wether or a small flame.
11
THE FIRE TRIANGLE The fire triangle is three things that you need for a fire to form. Air/ oxygen Fuel Fuel is things like: Brown leaves Sticks Ash Heat Hot days
12
WHAT IS A VOLCANO A volcano is a mountain shaped hill that has a massive hole down the middle and a magma chamber at the bottom where all the laver is until the volcano explodes. The massive hole down the middle is also called. As a main vent like the picture says. When the magma is down the bottom it is called magma but when it is reaches the top it is called lava

POMPEII FACTS www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeB5N_bH7E8 When the volcano at Pompeii erupted it was a tragedy the volcano. Vesuvius Is the name of the volcano in Pompeii. Vesuvius has erupted about 50 times. The people of Pompeii though that the volcano was just a mountain until it erupted for the first time. 2,000 people died when it erupted. It is the only active volcano on the mainland Europe.

TONGA UNDERWATER VOLCANO ERUPTION In 2009 there was a volcano eruption underwater. It created a new island. It was 39 miles north west of the capital of Tonga (Nuku’alofa). Rocks steam and ash rose to around 3.0480. Journalist George lava was one of the first people to have a close look at the island the eruption made he went there with a group of others.

WHAT CAUSES A LANDSLIDE Sometimes after a earthquake landslides can occur most likely when you have a hill that has a tip sticking out and it can brake off it depends of the strength of the earthquake. Turkish mine This land slide has slid into the mine and damaged the mine badly. California California landslide at Laguna beach. The landslide took most of the land under the house leaving the home only with a few chucks of dirt rock sand holding up that end of the house.

WHAT IS A BLIZZARD? Blizzards are one of the most powerful storms. When there is a strong wind and a heap of snow falling that is when it is called a blizzard. A little of snow is great but when a lot of snow comes it gets very dangerous because people can get buried under it. Fun Fact no 1: Snow has a lot of air in it and that is what makes it lighter than water! Fun Fact no 2: In America blizzards happen in December, January and February. (Our summer time)
18
THE SUPER BOWL BLIZZARD The super bowl blizzard was the 2 nd week into January 1975. It was in United States (U.S). The height of the snow was roughly about 6 meters high. Killed 70 people. It caused 45 tornadoes to happen.
