2 Required Materials Students should come to class prepared with the following items everyday: Book with cover Assignment book Notebook/binder Pens/pencil Paper Homework Highlighter

3 More Expectations Throughout the year, students should… Replenish their own school supplies, as necessary Replace worn or torn book covers since fines will be levied if the book is damaged. Replace binders/folders as needed

4 Team Website www.ams.guilfordschools.org Check our team website for homework assignments and important information regarding tests, projects, and trips. Please note that changes in assignments are sometimes unavoidable. All assignments are posted in individual classrooms. Teacher websites are updated on Mondays and/or when changes are made.

5 PowerSchool We encourage you to regularly view your child’s grades online through PowerSchool Grades are usually available within two weeks after an assignment is collected Missed work should be completed as soon as possible for full credit (absence) or partial credit (late work) If you have any questions, please contact the subject area teacher

6 Some Helpful Hints A score of “0” typically means that the assignment was not turned in A score of “--” means that the score has not been entered or the assignment has not been graded Scores in blue have a comment attached (late, incomplete, absent, retake/rewrite, etc.) Teachers make every effort to enter grades in a timely manner If you have a concern about a score, please check if there’s a comment attached to the score and/or speak with your child prior to contacting us

7 Communication If you have any questions, we encourage you to email us or call us at 453-2755 at our individual extensions Team 7-3 offers parent conferences during our team planning time,1:15-1:50 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays Parent-teacher conferences will be held on November 12th in the evening and 13 th in the afternoon

8 Extra Help Extra help is available during study halls and by appointment with individual teachers Students are encouraged to assume responsibility in seeking out and scheduling help from individual teachers

9 Homework Students should spend at least an hour per night doing homework, which includes reading and studying Students should try to complete homework independently Homework is a part of a student’s grade point average at AMS There is a penalty for lateness If a pattern of missed assignments or low grades emerges, we will contact you

10 Field Trips We encourage all parents to attend the Extra Pair of Hands training program, which is a prerequisite to chaperoning trips and activities Currently our scheduled outings include a theater trip to see short story plays in December, a Chatfield Hollow/Hammonasset geology science trip in the spring, and our end-of-the- year activity day at Jacobs Beach

11 Odds and Ends In cases of absence (excused and unexcused), the student is responsible for checking with teachers and completing missed assignments in a timely fashion Students should check individual teacher’s homework boards and/or websites for assignment details and due dates We expect students to be responsible and diligent We encourage students to do their best at all times and for all assignments
