At the Store The customer is the person who buys items at the store and pays for them. The cashier is the person who collects the money from the customer and gives change, if they need.

Never Subtract! When the cashier needs to give you change, she doesnt subtract. The cashier will always count up!

How many coins? LETS THINK: Which group of coins would you rather have? a quarter Sometimes we have to trade our coins. Why? To have the fewest amount of coins.

Lets Go Shopping! Two balloons cost 21¢. You are going to pay for two balloons with a quarter. How much change will you receive? Cost of the item 21¢ Amount Paid 25¢ Change Received (count up, from 21 to 25) 22¢23¢24¢25¢ 4¢ change WE ALWAYS COUNT UP! NEVER SUBTRACT!
