Early Decision Early decision plans are binding. Student agrees to attend the college if accepted and if adequate aid package is offered. Student can apply to only one college for early decision Can apply to other colleges through the regular admission process. If accepted early by the first-choice college, all other applications must be withdrawn.

Early Action Similar to early decision plans, but are not binding. If accepted, student can commit to the college immediately or wait until regular decision deadline. Open and non-binding early action: Allows students to apply early to other colleges and to wait until regular decision deadline to reply. Early Action (cont.) Single choice early action: Students can apply early action to just one school, but cannot apply early action or early decision to any other college. Can apply to other colleges for regular decision and no requirement to reply to the early application college until the regular decision deadline. No Early Decision or Early Action Harvard, Princeton and University of Virginia do not offer either early decision or early action plans.
