4 CLAREMONT McKENNA COLLEGE 05. 09. 2007 Sakai Early Adopters (SEA)  What we offered to the SEAs: One-on-one training One-on-one consultation Manual course migration and resource allocation (to match individual WebCT course set- ups)

5 CLAREMONT McKENNA COLLEGE 05. 09. 2007 What We Learned from SEAs  Faculty are very busy  Be flexible with scheduling meetings, workshops, etc.  They have many questions and concerns regarding the migration process  Manual course migration is laborious and time consuming.  An auto-migration tool for content and quizzes is necessary to meet the target deadline!

10 CLAREMONT McKENNA COLLEGE 05. 09. 2007 Are We There Yet? Almost! All archived courses have been migrated to Sakai All existing courses will be migrated by Mid May About 30 faculty members moved to Sakai in the past semester

11 CLAREMONT McKENNA COLLEGE 05. 09. 2007 Lessons Learned  Get the skeptics to participate in the SEA team  Provide workshops and support as much as possible  Ensure enough transition time and pilot time  Get involved in the Sakai community:  Join the Sakai Collab list-servs for updates (https://collab.sakaiproject.org/)https://collab.sakaiproject.org/  Attend regional and national conferences  SakaiCAL on July 9, 2007  It’s not cheaper, at least initially!
