4 How you become an IAS?  UPSC conducts 2 tier exam 1)Prelimanary (objective type) (In August) 2) Main (Written type) (In December) + Personality Test (Interview type) (In May-June) (In May-June)

6 Paper – 1 (200 marks) 1. Current events of national and international 2. History of India and Indian National Movement 3. Indian and World Geography 4. Indian Polity and Governance 5. Economic and Social Development 6. General Issues on Environmental ecology, 7. General science.

7 Paper II – (200 marks)  1. Comprehension  2. Interpersonal skills including communication skills;  3. Logical reasoning and analytical ability  4. Decision making and problem solving  5. General mental ability  6. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc) (class X level)

8 Main (9 Papers)  Two Qualifying Papers I.Indian language (Written) II.English (Written) Indian Language Can be Chosen From List of 22 Languages like Hindi, Bengali Assamese, Marathi, etc

9 (Mains Subjective type / Written) Paper I > Essay= 250 Marks Paper ii > GSI = 250 Marks Paper III > GSII= 250 Marks Paper IV > GSIII= 250 Marks Paper V > GSIV= 250 Marks Paper VI > Optional* = 500 (= P-I = 250 Marks) (= P-II = 250 Marks) *(1 Subject may be chosen from list of 19 Avaliable optionals As an optional subject for 500 Marks)
