1 Constitution Project By: Brooke Martin

2 House of Representatives Election every 2 yrs Responsibilities- –Impose and collect taxes and duties. –Borrow money. –Regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the states. –Coin money. –Establish post offices. –Declare war. –Raise & support the army and navy.

3 Article One : Senate Qualifications —Age: must be at least 30 yrs old. —Residency: must live in the state you represent. —Citizenship: must be a united states citizen for at least 9 years.

4 Senate Elections every 6 yrs. Two senators from every state Responsibilities ―Chose their officers ―Have the sole power to try all impeachments ―When the president of the U.S. is tried, the chief justice shall preside.

5 Now The Articles

6 Article II: Executive branch The President of the United States of America must: -be thirty-five years or older -be a legal born US citizen -have lived in the US for fourteen years Elections are held every four years Responsibilities of the US President -carry out and enforce laws made by Congress -make treaties with other foreign nations -appoint certain important government officials -act as commander in chief of the armed forces -veto laws passed by Congress

7 Article III: Judicial The responsibilities of the Judicial Branch - interpreting the laws - setting legal disputes - protecting the rights of the people given by the Constitution Length of tenure "The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behavior, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office."

8 Now the Amendments

9 1 st Amendment Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press& freedom om assembly and petition. Freedom of assembly- people have the right to get together for a common purpose. Freedom of petition- people have the right to ask for change.

10 5 th Amendment Amendment Five states that: - you cannot be tried for the same offense twice - you cannot be deprived from civil rights (life, liberty, property) without due process of law - you are innocent until proven guilty - you cannot testify against yourself

11 14 th Amendment Amendment XIV states that: -Any person born or naturalized in the United States are citizens of the United States and to the state which they were born in. -no state shall deprive a citizen from life, liberty, or property without due process of law -all citizens have the right to equal protection of the law in all states..!
