2  Today I will explore the Unit 2 standards and learning targets by setting up my Math Survival Guide (MSG) because it is important to be organized in my learning and to create a resource to assist me as I learn the 6 th grade math standards.

3  In your spiral, record last week’s # correct.  On the back of your paper write: your name 9/22/2014 ____ # correct Don’t start until I say “GO!”

4  Carefully Number pages #52 through #91  Do not skip pages, make sure you number every page in the corner.

5 Glue the Unit 2 Table of Contents on Page 1 under Unit 1 Table of Contents.

6  First, cut the calendar out so that it will fit on Page 56!

7  Create a Vocabulary Pocket (I will show you!)  Fold the Unit 2 Vocabulary List in half and slide it in your new pocket!  Way to go!

8  Page 60 – Write Unit 2 Circle Map at the top (we will get back to that!)  Page 61 – Unit 2 Standards – glue in!

9  Page 62 – Fold the 1 st page of the Study Guide in half and glue in on Page 62.  Page 63 – write Study Guide at the top!  Page 64 – Fold the 2 nd page of the Study Guide in half and glue in on page 64.  Page 65 – write Study Guide at the top!

10  Page 67 – Ratios Rock  Page 68 - Part-to-Part Ratios  Page 69 – Unit Rates  Page 71 – Fold outer flaps in and glue the back piece to page 71 (I’ll show you!)  Page 74 – Proportions Practice  Page 80 – Practice Tic-Tac-Toe  Page 81 – Finding the “Percent of” a Number

11  Page 82 – More Percents  Page 83 – Tips, Taxes and Discounts  Page 87 – Converting Customary Units  Page 91 – Metric Mania

12  Go to pages 60 & 61in your MSG. Using the student friendly standards listed on page 61, create a circle map for what you will learn in Unit 1 on Page 60.  Discuss.  Homework!

13  1) Ryan has 10 pounds of coffee. He wants to repackage the coffee into bags of size pound. How many bags of coffee can he make?  2) 92 – 1.48 = __________  3) Morgan used 4.5 yards of ribbon to make bows for the dance. If each bow required 0.25 yards of ribbon, how many bows did she make?

14  Discuss results.  Enter Post Test Scores on your Post Test Tracker inside the cover of your MSG.  Discuss corrections process.

15  1) Lauren buys dog food every 6 days and cat food every 9 days. If she buys both kinds of pet food today, in how many days will she next buy both kinds of pet food?  2) A shelf has a width of inches. If CDs have a width of inch, how many CDs can be placed on the shelf?  3) 13.72 + 2.4 + 18 = __________

16  1) 2) Eggs are sold by the dozen and English muffins are sold in packages of 10. What is the least number of packages of each that can be bought to make egg sandwiches (one egg and one muffin) with no muffins or eggs left over? 3) A roller coaster train holds 30 passengers. If there are 308 people in line to ride, how many times will the train have to go for everyone to be able to ride?

17  1) A bookshelf is 13.9 inches long. Math textbooks are 1.2 inches. How many math textbooks can go on this shelf?  2) There are 24 boys and 20 girls playing in a co- ed softball league. All teams will have boys and girls, and each team must have the same number of girls and the same number of boys.  How many teams?  How many boys on each team?  How many girls on each team?
