College of Education Minority Programs in Education 2006-2007 Year in Review

Fall 2006 Professional Development Workshops Scholars heard from leaders in the Education field who spoke about trends in Orange and Osceola counties.

Scholar Testimonial Scholar Testimonial Regarding the October 25 th Professional Development Workshop on Interview Skills for Teachers: “I just wanted to let you all know how much I enjoyed the workshop today!”

Giving Back Volunteers from the Office of Student Affairs, including MPIE scholars, gave an informative presentation to a second grade class at Ivey Lane Elementary. We involved the children in several activities to get them thinking about going to college. We talked to the children about UCF.

MPIE Scholars Shine! Scholars were recognized with several awards and honors this year: Judith A. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Tangela Griffin Junior Achievement Scholarship, Founders’ Award, and Honors in the Major Reshma Ramkellawan Gene & Mary Longfellow Award Angela King

Florida Fund for Minority Teachers Conference The Office of Student Affairs recruited community college transfer students for MPIE and seniors for UCF graduate programs. All seniors participated in a pinning ceremony, such as UCF MPIE scholar Angela King, shown on the left.
