Perks, reasons to join, etc… Provided by university honors: Early registration for classes Almost guaranteed entry into desired classes Bone scholarships Honors first year scholarship ($2k towards tuition) Honors program partial tuition scholarships (apply in spring)

Bolen Senior Professionals Honors Student Award ($1k) Research Mentorship ($600 p/semester) Undergraduate research scholarship ($2.5k over the summer) M. J. scholarship ($1500 for seniors) Honors Student Scholarly Travel Grants (for travel to conferences)

Perks, reasons to join, etc… Honors Designations Departmental Honors Scholar Presidential Scholar Sophomore Honors Scholar Certificate in University Honors University Honors Scholar Honors Coursework Designations Dean's List Degrees with Distinction Departmental Honors is a designation, like these others, but better! A minor one Not really honors designations, but on the honors page for designations (?)

Qualifications for entry 1. Be in the university honors program Have a current GPA of 3.5 or better (for entry – after entry, keep it 3.3 + or so) Complete the current & transfer student application form (http://www.honors.ilstu.edu/downloads/current_transfer_application.pdf)http://www.honors.ilstu.edu/downloads/current_transfer_application.pdf Attach a personal statement to the form Deadlines: Fall admission: July 1 st Spring admission: December 15 th

Qualifications for entry 2. Stay in the university honors program! Maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better (3.0 - 3.29 = probationary status) Complete 3 hours of honors credit per semester

Qualifications for entry 3. Be a declared KNR major 30 - 90 hours course work completed 6 + hours of KNR courses completed 4. Complete the application form (see handout, link is at: http://kinrec.illinoisstate.edu/honors/ 5., submit to your advisor. 6. Schedule KNR 295 – honors seminar

Requirements for completion 3 hours of honors courses in KNR Honors seminar (KNR 295) [1 credit hr] Honors independent study (KNR 299) [3-6 credit hours] You would do at least this through being in the honors program (there really isn’t much extra work for KNR honors) Complete a presentation at the annual KNR honors symposium (this one has never yet been enforced) Maintain a 3.30 GPA
