3. 12.10.2015 Copyright VirtuaaliAMK 3 What do you mean by Online UAS?  The Finnish Online University of Applied Sciences, Online UAS, is a network of Finnish Universities of applied sciences  KUAS is one partner in this network  The aim of this network is to provide high quality online learning and more study options for UAS students and enable flexible studying across university boundaries.  Universities of Applied Sciences offer their online courses via the Online UAS portal at oncampus.fioncampus.fi  Portal was opened in September 2002

Forms of study  Independent eLearning 12.10.2015 Copyright VirtuaaliAMK 8 “Supervised learning is education based on co-operation where supervisor and students are in active interaction with each other by the help of different digital tools. The eLearning study can contain tasks and individual, pair or group work. The eLearning study can contain online contacts, for example via discussion channels or video and audio negotiations. Some eLearning studies may have contact exams due to requirements in polytechnics.” Supervised eLearning “eLearning based on self-studies are studies where student study independently the study material and its guidelines. The student can do tasks and get feedback by the help of the study material. The eLearning studies based on self-studies do not contain supervisor's guidance nor do it necessarily have interaction with other students.”

11. Financial issues What does it cost?  The studies via the Finnish Online UAS are free of charge for Finnish UAS degree students.  The money transfer only takes places between the universities. Money transfers are invisible for the student.  The home university of the student pays for studies the student takes at another UAS.  The receiving university (arranging the course) gets a payment for each incoming student / course. 12.10.2015 Copyright VirtuaaliAMK 11

12. How do I apply? A Two-Phase Acceptance for the Students’ Applications  The student applies for a course arranged by another UAS.  The home university of the student supports (or does not support) the student’s electronic application for a course arranged in anotherUAS  The receiving university (the university arranging the course) gives its acceptance for the student’s application.  The student gets an e-mail and instructions how to start the course.  The information system as such could easily be used with foreign universities 12.10.2015 Copyright VirtuaaliAMK 12

Study process  When your application has been supported (in KUAS) and accepted (in the other UAS), you will be notified by e-mail  The UAS arranging the course will provide you with passwords and information necessary for the course  You study according to the advice the course teacher gives you  Once you’ve completed the course and the teacher has graded it, information on the completed course can be found on the Own UAS studies tab  E-official of KUAS will register your credits into Winha 12.10.2015 Copyright VirtuaaliAMK 18
