5 What led to battle The North wanted the southern port to complete the Anaconda Plan. Once the plan is complete the south will be divided into 2 main parts.

6  Gen. Grant led his soldiers to Vicksburg and started an attack on the confederacy.  The confederates new the land well but was at a disadvantage in the number of soldiers.

7  The Union started to get a big advantage over the confederacy because the confederacy was at a loss for soldiers.  People started to dig caves for shelter because artillery fire destroyed the home

8  The battle was finally coming to an end, on July 4 Pemberton sent a surrender note to Grant.  This ended the battle.
