Mississippi It took place near Warren county Mississippi. It took place near the Mississippi River around steep cliffs. It lasted from May 18, 1863 till July 4,1863

What led to battle The North wanted the southern port to complete the Anaconda Plan. Once the plan is complete the south will be divided into 2 main parts.

Gen. Grant led his soldiers to Vicksburg and started an attack on the confederacy. The confederates new the land well but was at a disadvantage in the number of soldiers.

The Union started to get a big advantage over the confederacy because the confederacy was at a loss for soldiers. People started to dig caves for shelter because artillery fire destroyed the home

The battle was finally coming to an end, on July 4 Pemberton sent a surrender note to Grant. This ended the battle.
