Proposed Deemed Savings Rates for Energy Star 3.0 Plus 30% Televisions By Christina Steinhoff May 2, 2010

Baseline Our baseline dataset comes from NPD Group. The dataset records approx. 3.6 million televisions sales in Quarter 1 2009. Does not include Costco, eBay, Fry’s Electronics, Walmart, and some others. 434,206 units were baseline. 23% Plasma 77% LCD Source: QDI Strategies. December 2009. NPD Baseline Energy Analysis.

Track savings from NEEA’s program Maximum on power mode energy consumption is 30% less than Energy Star’s 3.0 specification. Standby Power is less than 1 watt. Qualifying Units Energy Star 3.0 Specifications (Effective Nov. 1, 2008) Area < 680 in 2 PMax = 0.200*A + 32 680 in 2 ≤ Area < 1045 in 2 ≤ Area PMax = 0.240*A + 27 Area ≥1045 in 2 PMax = 0.156*A + 151 Note: Testing is based on the international test procedure IEC 62087, tested at default setting. The test accounts for on supply voltage (115v), ambient temperature and humidity.
