What do we learn from the prologue?
What questions come to mind after reading the prologue?
Predict what you think will be key issues in the play.

3. What is a FEUD?
Think of examples of feuds. Perhaps think of wars that started because of long-term conflicts between two sides, populations that have clashed in the past or currently, gang rivalries, etc.
Write down a reason why you think feuds often drag on and result in violence or other serious consequences.

Capulets (including Juliet) vs.

(including Romeo)

5. Terms
Characterization- process of conveying information about a character through descriptions, actions, speech, and thoughts.
Aside- a dramatic device where characters speak to audience and it is unheard by other characters.
Conflict-
External - Man vs. society; man vs. man; man vs. nature
Internal - Man vs. self

Epithet- a characterizing word taking the place of a noun for a person or thing.
Pun- play on words based on similarity of sound between two different words with two different meanings.
Blank verse- unrhymed verse written in iambic pentameter.
Couplet- two lines that rhyme and have the same meter.
