What You Can Expect Just as I have set forth rules for you, I have also placed them upon myself. I will always be ready to teach from bell to bell. I will always welcome frank discussion on any suitable topic during appropriate time within class. I will always try to help you to the very best of my ability. Since much of our work is done as a group, you may collaborate with your group members regarding the data and discussion. However, any written report or reflection should be your own work and not copied from another member of your group. Having another student’s paper in your possession is considered cheating by both students and will result in a grade of zero for all involved. 12 Check-up from the Neck Up - Secretes of a Straight “A” Student  Set Priorities – There is no interruption of study time with TV, phone calls, video games etc.  Study anywhere and everywhere – Set a regular time every day for studying and try to find a little extra before tests and quizzes.  Get Organized – Keep your biology notebook organized. You will be able to use it on quizzes so easy access to the material is critical.  Take good notes and use them – always read the chapter, but it is important that you listen and take notes in class. You may need to re-read and re-copy your notes from time to time in preparation for the test.  Speak up - Participate in class by asking questions and showing intellectual curiosity.  Do more than you are ask – Part of learning is practicing and the more you practice the more you learn.  Sit in my classroom and Demand help! – Get the material straight. That’s what I am here for.

13 1.Always arrive late. 2.If you arrive late, never slip into your desk quietly. Its far better to make a brig production to make sure everyone notices you. Slamming your books on the desk is always a nice touch. 5. Never do your homework. The teacher will admire your consistency. 6. Don’t take notes. If you followed # 4 this should not be a problem. 7. When the teacher says turn to page 36, ask “What page?” 3. Better yet, don’t bring your books at all. 4. Never brings supplies to class. Always borrow someone’s and forget to give it back. Let someone else spend their money on it.

14 http://www.saintpetersblog.com/archives/227128 What does that mean? We live in a digital age. The advent of technology is transforming how we look at classrooms. Many colleges and universities require their students to retrieve and turn in assignments electronically. If this is indeed true then it is critical that we begin transitioning in that direction. Many people believe that transforming into a digital classroom means throwing out the traditional model of classroom instruction. There are many values of a traditional classroom (there will still be some class lecture, textbooks are still around and you will continue to work cooperatively in groups) that are incorporated into a digital classroom while incorporating technology as it fits appropriately into the study of biology.

15 While there is not an extensive list of supplies for biology there are a few things that you will be needing.
