Introduction OH NO! Ms. Brown, a fourth grade teacher, is sick! She is going to be gone the whole week her class is learning about geometry, and her substitute doesn’t know what to do. How are her students going to learn about shapes, angles, area, perimeter, and transformations.? How are her students going to pass the CRCT? Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

Task Since we are geometry experts, I think we can help out Ms. Brown’s class. In this Webquest you’re going to be a teacher for Ms. Brown’s class. You are going to research more information about geometry topics and come up with ways to tell Ms. Brown’s class about the important geometric figures, angles, and transformations so they will be ready for the CRCT! Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

Process Part 1 1.First, you will be assigned one partner to work with in order to come up with ways to teach Ms. Brown’s class. 2.You and your partner will pick one role to complete in order to help teach Ms. Brown’s Class from the list of roles below. Roles: Polygon Professors: You are responsible for explaining and describing the different types of polygons, and how they are similar and different. You will also research information about the different types of quadrilaterals. Polygon Professors: Angle Analysis: You are responsible for explaining the different types of angles, and how they are similar and different. You will be able to learn about more than just right, obtuse, and acute angles. Angle Analysis: Transformation Teacher: You are responsible for explaining the three different types of transformations. You will research any other transformations there are. Transformation Teacher: *Click on the name of each role to find help with your project.* 3.Once you have decided on a role, click the Process: Part Two box in the bottom right corner to find out what you are going to do. Process Part 2 4.Pick two ways to teach Ms. Brown’s class about the topic assigned to the role you chose. Pick from the product choices below. Pick Two Activities to Complete From the Choice Below o Write a book about your topic. Use the story map to help you plan your story before you begin writing. Make sure you also illustrate your story. (A)story map o Create a lesson to teach the class. (A) o Make a crossword puzzle to help the class learn your role’s important vocabulary here. (A)here o Create an informational pamphlet in Microsoft Publisher or by hand. (V) o Create a power point to help describe your topic with Microsoft Power Point. Use this to help you make your Power Point. (V)this o Make a picture dictionary that will help the class learn important definitions about your topic. Use this dictionary to help you. You can use the computer or draw to make your dictionary.(V)this dictionary o Write a song, rap, or rhyme that will help the class learn about your topic. Use these songs to help you come up with ideas. (K) songs o Make a mobile that will help the class understand your topic. (K) o Write and/or perform a play or skit to help teach about your topic. (K) 5.Use the references from your roles informational pages to help you research information about your topic. Make sure you look for new information based on the questions on your roles page to help guide your learning. Click on your role’s name to go to the role’s informational page. Polygon Professors You are responsible fro teaching Ms. Brown’s class about the important polygons you learned about, and all of the important things that we learned about them. Use these questions to help guide your thinking: What are the different types of polygons? What do all polygons have? How can we classify polygons? How can I identify polygons with more than eight sides? What are quadrilaterals? What are the different types of quadrilaterals? *Use at least two of these website to help you find information* http://www.kidsnewsroom.org/elmer/infocentral/geometry/index.html http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/drmath.elem.html http://www.coolmath.com/0-geometry-math-art.html http://www.math.com/homeworkhelp/Geometry.html *Once you have reviewed your role, go back to the task page by clicking task on the left hand side of the page.* Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

Angle Analysis You are responsible for teaching Ms. Brown’s class about the three different types of angles we learned about, and how they are similar and different. Use these questions to help guide your thinking: Where is an angle found? How can we tell the different between the different types of angles? How many different angles are there? What are congruent angles? *Use at least two of these website to help you find information* http://www.kidsnewsroom.org/elmer/infocentral/geometry/index.html http://www.kidskonnect.com/subject-index/17-math/291-geometry.html http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/drmath.elem.html http://www.coolmath.com/0-geometry-math-art.html http://www.math.com/homeworkhelp/Geometry.html http://www.mathleague.com/help/geometry/angles.htm *Once you have reviewed your role, go back to the task page by clicking task on the left hand side of the page.* Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

Transformation Teacher You are responsible for teaching Ms. Brown’s class about the three different types of transformations you learned about, and how you create them. Use these questions to help guide your thinking: What different types of transformations did you learn about? How can you move around a figure? How do you explain each transformation? How is Symmetry related to transformations? Are there transformations other than slides, reflections, and rotations? *Use at least two of these website to help you find information* http://www.kidsnewsroom.org/elmer/infocentral/geometry/index.html http://www.classzone.com/books/geometry/page_build.cfm?id=none&ch=7 http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/drmath.elem.html http://www.coolmath.com/0-geometry-math-art.html http://www.math.com/homeworkhelp/Geometry.html http://www.nct.anth.org.uk/ *Once you have reviewed your role, go back to the task page by clicking task on the left hand side of the page.* Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

WOW! You all really are experts! You did a great job helping Ms. Brown’s class! You were really able to help her class while she was away. They were able to learn everything about geometry for the CRCT. Not only did you help her class, but you also were able to gain a better understanding about geometry. To Further Research Geometric Figures Click next or go back and complete another role to help out Ms. Brown’s Class
