1 Welcome Class of 2017! Get ready for your Junior Year

2 A special welcome to Eden’s newest Juniors Please lend a hand if any new students need help finding their way around our school. Some of you remember what it was like to transfer from another school…

3 Here we go… Juniors who are considering a 2-year or 4-year college after High School should take the PSAT test on October 14th (during the school day). The cost of the test is $15.00 and you can pay in the Guidance Office with cash or a check made payable to “Eden Central School…register asap please. Deadline to register for May SAT held in our school is Friday, April 8th. Register at www.CollegeBoard.com. The test costs $54.50. www.CollegeBoard.com If you are eligible for FREE or REDUCED LUNCH please see one of us for a fee waiver for the May SAT. Waiver = free!

4 ACT Test Dates The ACT test is offered in April & June at nearby high schools. Register at www.actstudent.org.www.actstudent.org Fee for the ACT is $56.50 and includes the writing test. Colleges accept the better of your results when comparing your SAT and ACT scores. You don’t have to take both tests and most kids in Eden just take the SAT!

5 The ASVAB Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery It’s free and it does NOT compel you to do anything related to the military The results can be useful for choosing a college major, a career path or identifying skills and talents you may not know you have. The test is held at the High School on Friday, November 14, 2015. The results are given to you before the Christmas break.

6 Payments Due Taking a College-level class? The tuition is due by September 30th! Most classes cost between $195 and $275 depending on the course and cooperating college. See us for a NUSTEP fee waiver if you are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Taking an AP course? The $91 exam fee is due by November 20th. Reminders of these deadlines to follow…

7 Applying to college? 4-year colleges base their acceptance or rejection letters on your marks in 9th, 10th & 11th grade Choose a challenging schedule during Senior year. Colleges and employers notice. Make sure you have all your required classes in your schedule (English, History, Phys Ed, etc). See one of us ASAP if something’s missing.

8 College visits College Night at Hilbert College is Tuesday, September 22nd at 7pm. Please attend. All Local college reps, including military branch reps, will visit Eden on Thursday, September 24th at 9:15am. Rep visit schedule will be posted on Guidance Office door. College visits count as an educational absence.

9 Keep in mind… NCAA Eligibility is not the same as New York State Diploma eligibility. It is the athletes responsibility to ensure eligibility. Are you at Mastery level in Math and/or Science? Vocational programs earn students 4 credits per year and include English, math and science.
