The Need for Change Increase the percentage of inmates working by expanding opportunities of prison industry through private sector competition. Vision: Employ at least 10% of inmates in paid inmate labor programs no later than 2012.

NOTE: In 1976, the Legislature appropriated $11 million to expand the prison industries program to 2,000 workstations (when Florida had 20,000 inmates).
