Facts About Bones Babies have over 350 bones in the body. As you grow older, bones fuse together and join as one. Adults have 206 bones in the body.

Parts of the Bone Periostium - Outer Layer Compact – Hard Bone Cancellous – Spongy Bone (Not actually spongy) Bone Marrow Red – Creates Red Blood Cells Yellow – Stores Fat

Other than Bones… Cartilage - Soft slippery layer of flexible bone found in joints. (also nose and ear) Ligaments - Tissue that connects bones to other bones. Joints – Where 2 bones meet. Hinge – moves back and forth (elbow, knee) Ball and Socket – moves in a circular motion. ( hip, shoulder)
